Red Sox Predicted To Use Top-100 Prospect As Offseason Trade Bait

The Boston Red Sox made a blockbuster trade to send Rafael Devers to the San Francisco Giants earlier this year, but they were rather quiet at the trade deadline.

While the Red Sox were quiet at the deadline, they could look to make some major waves in the offseason, specifically on the trade market.

Katie Manganelli of BoSox Injection recently suggested the Red Sox would use top 100 prospect Jhostynxon Garcia as a trade chip in the offseason in order to land a big deal.

“Like Duran, top prospect Jhostynxon Garcia contributes to the Red Sox’s outfield surplus,” Manganelli wrote. “Garcia is knocking on Fenway Park’s doors with a .291/.362/.533 slash line, .895 OPS, 12 homers and 36 RBI in 50 games in Triple-A — even if Rob Refsnyder walks in free agency or retires and Boston selects Garcia for 2026, it will have the same number of outfielders it has this year.

“Garcia’s trade value shot up this year after his outstanding first half, his promotion to Triple-A and his debut on multiple top-100 prospects lists. The 22-year-old Venezuela native was on deck to be dealt in the Ryan deal if the Red Sox could work something out, highlighting their willingness to trade him.”

The Red Sox will enter the offseason with a massive hole in their starting rotation. Adding a second ace alongside Garrett Crochet would be the best-case scenario for Boston.

But if the Red Sox are going to hunt a big trade, they’re going to need to use big bait, which is where the talented Garcia comes in.

He’s the perfect trade candidate because he’s talented enough to headline a trade for a star, but the youngster is blocked by a lot of talent in Boston’s outfield.
