This is the final regular-season game between the Detroit Tigers and the Philadelphia Phillies this season, with Sunday’s matchup being the rubber match of the series. However, given both teams play so far this season, it feels possible that this could be a World Series matchup.
The game will be broadcast across ESPN, ESPN2, and ESPN Deportes on Sunday at 7 p.m. ET.

The Phillies pulled off a close 5-4 win in the opener on Friday, while the Tigers bounced back in Game 2 on Saturday, winning 7-5. After a tough start to the second half of the season, the Tigers have now won five of their last six games and are leading the American League Central by eight games. After last night’s loss, the Phillies have now dropped out of first place in the National League East, but they are only 0.5 games back of the New York Mets.
Detroit made a last-minute deal with the Baltimore Orioles at the trade deadline to get tonight’s starter, Charlie Morton. The right-hander is 41 years old, but he still has more to give. Morton started the season 0-7, but changed the course of his season after that and now has a 7-8 record with a 5.42 ERA.
The Phillies will send left-hander Christopher Sanchez to the mound. He’s had a much more consistent season. He is 9-3 with a 2.55 ERA. At home this season, he is 4-0 with a 2.65 ERA.
