Los Angeles Chargers linebacker Denzel Perryman was arrested for multiple weapons violations after a traffic stop on Friday, authorities say.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department confirmed to KTLA in a statement that Perryman was initially stopped by deputies from the South L.A. Station for vehicle code violations.
“During their investigation, Mr. Perryman was arrested for multiple weapons violations,” an LASD spokesperson stated, adding that the veteran linebacker was cooperative throughout the investigation.
TMZ reported that he was “en route to the gun range when cops searched his car and found he had two [assault rifles] and three handguns in the trunk, with the rifles being non-compliant.”
According to inmate search records, the 10-year NFL vet was arrested around 9:40 p.m. Friday and booked shortly after. He was being held at the Lennox Station as of Saturday morning, the search records indicated.
He has a court date set for Tuesday. The Chargers, nor Perryman, immediately commented on the matter.
Perryman, 32, was drafted in the 2nd round of the 2015 NFL Draft by the Chargers and spent five seasons with the team before stints with the Carolina Panthers, Las Vegas Raiders and Houston Texans. He re-signed with the Chargers in 2024.
