Heading into the 2025 NFL season, the Cleveland Browns are not expected to be a serious contender in the AFC. They could surprise everyone, but they have a lot of work to do in order to make that happen.
While the current outlook for the team not in a good place, could Andrew Berry consider getting aggressive to turn things around quicker? An opportunity may have presented itself.
A lot of rumors have surrounded the situation between the Dallas Cowboys and superstar pass rusher Micah Parsons. Now, Parsons has officially requested a trade openly on social media.
Could the Browns consider getting involved? Pairing Parsons with Myles Garrett would give Cleveland the best pass rush in the league by far.

It may be far-fetched, but it’s possible.
Matthew Schmidt of Cleveland Browns on SI has suggested that the Browns could make sense as a trade suitor. He also offered a potential framework of a trade.
He has suggested that Cleveland could come up with an intriguing trade package including the Jacksonville Jaguars’ 2026 first-round pick, a second-round pick, and either Isaiah McGuire or Alex Wright.
“Regardless, this is something the Browns absolutely have to consider,” Schmidt wrote. “The thought of having both Garrett and Parsons in the same front seven is beyond enticing, especially considering that Cleveland also has Denzel Ward in its defensive backfield.”
Parsons is coming off of another dominant season in 2024 with the Cowboys. He played in 13 games and dealt with some injury issues, but still recorded 43 total tackles, 12 sacks, two forced fumbles, and a defended pass.

At 26 years old, this would be an ideal trade scenario for the Browns if they could follow it up with a long-term extension for Parsons. Their defense would have a chance to carry them to contention.
Obviously, the team would still have work to do offensively. But, defense does win championships.
This may not be a realistic option for Cleveland, but it’s something to watch. It’s likely that Dallas would prefer to trade Parsons outside of the NFC, which would help the Browns become an even more likely potential destination if they’re willing to pay the steep price.
Expect to hear more about Parsons’ future soon.
