MADISON COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) — One person was arrested for sexually assaulting a child in Madison County, the Madison County Sheriff’s Office says.
MCSO said on Tuesday, deputies responded to a house in Hazel Green following a report of sexual assault involving a child.
The sheriff’s office said the investigation revealed that the suspect, identified as 25-year-old Randy Almanzar, approached the house under the pretense of selling pest control services.
After asking to use the bathroom, Almanzar was allowed into the house by the victim. While inside, MCSO said Almanzar sexually assaulted the victim before leaving the home.
Deputies and detectives acted to identify and locate Almanzar. He was taken into custody and interviewed by Sheriff’s detectives.
Following the interview, Almanzar was arrested and charged with first-degree Sexual Abuse. He was transported to the Madison County Jail without incident.
“This was a calculated and despicable act,” Sheriff Kevin Turner said. “Let me be clear, anyone who preys on a child will be met with the full force of this Office. I’m proud of the swift work by our deputies and detectives, and I want the public to know: we will not hesitate, we will not slow down, and we will never tolerate this kind of evil in Madison County.”
Due to the nature of the offense and the age of the victim, no further details will be released at this time. The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with additional information regarding this case is encouraged to contact the Madison County Sheriff’s Office at (256) 722-7181.
