EXCLUSIVE: TikTok stars Adam Rose and Leah Kirkup are set to co-star opposite Outlander and A Place To Call Home actor David Berry in Gary Sinyor’s R-rated comedy Perfect Wedding Days, which has been retitled from the originally announced Something Blue.
Kirkup will play the bride in the wedding-themed comedy opposite previously announced Berry as the groom, with Rose taking the third co-starring role of the best man, who also has feelings for his friend’s wife-to-be.
With the groom getting married for the second time as the bride is embarking on wedded life for the first time, the couple have opted for an informal ceremony on the beach, with a few close friends and no religious elements.
UK writer, producer and director Sinyor is coming off the success of Peacock-acquired comedy show Hapless, about a gaffe-prone investigative journalist working for a Jewish newspaper, having previously made waves internationally with Renee Zellweger romcom The Bachelor.
Rose, whose TV credits include Veronica Mars and Merry Happy Whatever, has amassed close to seven million followers on TikTok with his comedic life hack videos under the realadamrose handle.
Sinyor, who reveals Rose is a fan of Hapless, praised the actor’s comedy skills, saying he won him and Berry over in a tryout.
“When we ran a scene, David Berry couldn’t stop giggling and I was no better. He’s a bit Peter Sellers, a bit Rowan Atkinson and yet still his own thing,” he said.
Kirkup also has a growing fanbase on TikTok, where she is known for her comedic “Your Girlfriend Who Hates You” sketches, while her TV credits include The Doctor Will See You Now and The Heiress and Her Lying Beast.
“Occasionally it pays to spend your spare hours scrolling through actresses on TikTok. That’s where I found Leah. She’s hilariously courageous and audiences will fall for her as much as Dan does in the film,” said Sinyor.
The production has also attached Hapless cast members Jeany Spark and Adwoa Akoto.
Sinyor, who is is producing the movie under the banner of his UK production company Magnet Films, compares the upcoming film to Bridesmaids with a looping element, with a “structure that is closer to 4 Weddings and a Funeral than Groundhog Day.”
In a further development, Sinyor has recently decided to shift a planned shoot in L.A. in June to Panama.
Under the move, Apertura Films, the Panama City-based company of Oscar-nominated director and producer Abner Benaim, will be a co-producer.
“The locations in Panama are perfect and we got such a warm welcome there from industry and non-industry it was difficult to refuse. Principle Photography starts in January when it’s meant to stop raining,” said Sinyor.
Rose is repped by Brillstein Entertainment Partners and CAA, while Kirkup is repped by Premier Artists.
