James Maslow reunited with his Big Time Rush group mates and revealed they are working on a reboot.
The actor and singer said in a recent interview that they have a script for the film that he hopes will be on Paramount+.
“There’s no promises or guarantees here, but we have a script we’re excited about and we’ve been in conversations for some time now, so I think there may be a chance that we get that green-lit and shot, maybe after this tour,” Maslow told The Cincinnati Enquirer.
Maslow said that making the film is “simple a time issue” and it would be made with Nickelodeon‘s “blessing.” The Celebrity Big Brother alum said that they want the film to be on Paramount+ as they are “a little bit older” now and want to share “a different story,” than their Nickeldeon show.
“You know, I was on iCarly and I got to join Miranda [Cosgrove] and the cast for the reboot as well, and it is, it’s very similar to the old show, but with swear words, whereas our movie would touch on the old characters and show, but it’d be totally different,” he added. “It’s in development, but it’s definitely possible.”
Big Time Rush was a sitcom aired on Nickelodeon for four seasons between 2009 and 2013. The series followed the Big Time Rush group playing a fictional version of themselves.
The series was purged from Paramount+ late in 2024 alongside other Nickelodeon series like Doug and Blue’s Room.
