HARTSELLE, Ala. (WHNT) — A Rogersville man accused of choking a woman and threatening to kill her and a young child was arrested on Monday.
According to Hartselle Police, a domestic incident that happened on June 28 has landed Silas Cain Hamm, 28, of Rogersville behind bars.
Hartselle Police said that Hamm was in a dating relationship with a woman which he is accused of assaulting after a social gathering.
According to evidence and witness statements, Hamm physically attacked the woman placing his hands around her neck and impeding her breathing.
HPD told News 19 that investigators could notice visible injuries consistent with strangulation.
During the assault, Hamm allegedly threatened to kill the woman, her young child, and himself.
After interviewing the female victim, collecting evidence, and reviewing medical evaluations, authorities determined there was probable cause to charge Hamm with Domestic Violence by Strangulation and Domestic Violence, which incorporates Burglary.
On Monday, July 28, Hamm was arrested on warrants obtained by authorities.
He was booked into the Morgan County Jail and was issued a $50,000 cash bond which was set by a Morgan County Circuit Judge.
