Trump’s Golf Conduct Under Scrutiny Again After Scotland Trip

During his visit to Scotland, President Donald Trump has so far struck a trade deal with the European Union, helped negotiate a cease-fire between Thailand and Cambodia, met British Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer, and warned Vladimir Putin that his patience is running out over the war in Ukraine.

But there may be one subject from his trip to Britain that trumps all that – the President’s conduct on the golf course.

The Commander-in-Chief has played at least two rounds of golf on his Turnberry course in southeast Scotland.

Well-known for being an avid lover of golf, Trump has made it clear what he thinks of his own ability. “I’ve played a lot, and I’ve played well… There’s very few people that can beat me in golf,” the President has previously boasted.

But there has also long been suspicions that he may not be a golfer who always adheres to the game’s strict rules. Footage from a game this weekend appeared to show one of Trump’s caddies cheating on his behalf.

Commentators suggested that the caddy was seen moving a ball near the edge of a bunker on Sunday at Turnberry golf course. Trump then gets out of a golf buggy, moving towards the ball, presumably to take a swing at the planted ball.

Multiple celebrities have accused President Trump of cheating on the golf course, part of allegations that go back decades.

In 2016, actor Samuel L. Jackson said: “We clearly saw him hit a ball into a lake at Trump National [Golf Course], and his caddie told him he found it… he just took off running and next thing we know he says ‘I got it Mr. Trump!’”.

“I don’t cheat at golf but Samuel L. Jackson cheats—with his game he has no choice,” Trump said in response, who claims to have a very respectable 2.8 handicap.

“Donald Trump is the worst cheat ever and he doesn’t care who knows,” said author of the 2019 book “Commander in Cheat,” Rick Reilly. The book, which focuses on the President and his conduct on the golf course, details various accounts of Trump allegedly cheating.

“I love golf and he has set the game back 30 years. Just when it was becoming cool with Rory McIlroy and Rickie Fowler, we get this fat bozo cheating his ass off,” Reilly told The Guardian in 2019.

“The worst celebrity golf cheat? I wish I could tell you that. It would be a shocker. I played golf with Donald Trump one time. That’s all I’m going to say,” Rock Musician Alice Cooper said in a 2012 interview with Q Magazine.
