What do you get when you cross Anne Hathaway, Jo March from Greta Gerwig’s Little Women, and one harrowing stint as Miranda Priestley’s assistant in The Devil Wears Prada? You get Anne Hathaway revolutionizing fall layering in a pinstriped maxi shirtdress under a red vest.

In photos taken from the set of the Devil Wears Prada sequel, which is filming in New York City, Hathaway wears a bright red vest—the kind that has been trending for several summers in a row—over a full-length blue dress with an A-line skirt. At first the outfit looks as though she’s the lead in an intentionally anachronistic period movie from the 1800s. I can just see her as Annie Hath, girl reporter on the front lines of the Civil War or something. But on closer inspection, the ensemble is clearly a play on traditional men’s suiting, which is much more appropriate for the movie she’s actually filming.

The collared shirtdress, which Hathaway wears with the sleeves rolled up, is navy blue with light blue pinstripes, while the red waistcoat could have come from a traditional three-piece suit. Hathaway added a few additional feminine touches to the styling, in addition to the shape of the skirt. She wore the dress with a few delicate necklaces, including one strand of pearls, some rings, and loose, wavy hair. Perhaps the best element of the look are the shoes: brown, crocodile leather boots with a high stiletto heel, which Hathaway allows to peek out from the center slit of the skirt.

This is hardly the first of Anne Hathaway’s Devil Wears Prada sequel looks to set the internet alight. She has also been seen in a controversial patchwork maxidress with straw bucket hat, bright blue coveralls, and a pair of confusing white pumps that we’re calling Mohawk shoes.

If you have a problem with any of it, you can take that up with Miranda Priestley.
