How was the woman found dead in the Chandler apartment?
Chandler police responded around 5 p.m. to reports of a domestic disturbance near Arizona Avenue and Galveston Street. A caller reportedly said that they heard an argument and what sounded like a gunshot.
When officers arrived on scene, they allegedly found an open apartment door with an unresponsive woman inside.
Police pulled the woman out of the apartment and she was pronounced dead.
According to Chandler police, the suspect’s mother told officers that her adult son had barricaded himself in the bathroom, claimed to be armed and refused to come out.

The woman’s death is being investigated as a homicide.
Chandler police said there is no ongoing threat to the community.
