A regional train derailed close to the southern German city of Ulm on Sunday night, possibly killing several passengers and injuring others, according to news reports.
The police in Ulm confirmed the derailment but did not give details on casualties.
Photos of the accident showed train cars lying on their sides, leaning against each other in underbrush beside the track.
The crash happened close to the town of Riedlingen, according to D.P.A., the German news agency, which also reported that several people had died in the accident.
It is not yet clear whether the accident was connected to a wind storm reported in the area at roughly the same time.
