PHOENIX — For 10 consecutive days this November, Valley residents are invited to Canal Convergence, a free Scottsdale art festival that will sport a new theme this year.

Scottsdale Waterfront from Nov. 7 to 16 will be showcasing public art from around the globe and offering its guests live music, educational tours, food trucks and a wine garden.

The theme will be “SHOWTIME” with the goal of highlighting the art of performance itself, “including its history, cultural significance and role in art and society,” according to the Canal Convergence website.

Jennifer Gill, Canal Convergence deputy director, said all featured artists and performers will be attempting to “expand on the essential element” of their work.

“By blurring the line between audience and performer through interactive and performative public artworks, Canal Convergence seeks to inspire deeper understanding and appreciation of the performing arts and their impact,” Gill said in a press release.

What performers, artists will be at Canal Convergence?

A full list of artworks and performances in the 14th anniversary of the event will be released in August, but MASARY Studios, Canada’s BIG ART and Australia’s Amigo & Amigo were announced as exhibitors earlier in July.

Phoenix-based entertainment group Walter Productions will return with nightly fire shows for the seventh year.

Last year’s festival featured more than 100 creative workshops for guests and a “Reflections” theme.

Event hours of operations

On both Fridays and Saturdays of the event (Nov. 7-8 and Nov. 14-15), amenities will be accessible from 6 to 10 p.m.

From Nov. 9 to 13 (Sunday through Thursday) and the event’s final day, Nov. 16, it will be open from 6 to 9 p.m.

Food trucks and other vendors will rotate throughout the duration of Canal Convergence, which will be located near Scottsdale and Camelback roads.
