Before the Pittsburgh Steelers were able to agree to terms on their one-year deal with future Hall of Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers, not everyone loved the idea of him becoming the team’s new quarterback.

One outspoken critic was team legend Terry Bradshaw. Before the signing, Bradshaw had offered a very critical take about Rodgers.

“That to me is just a joke,” Bradshaw said. “What are you going to do? Bring him in for one year? Are you kidding me… That guy needs to stay in California. Go somewhere and chew on bark. Whisper to the gods out there.”

Needless to say, the Steelers didn’t give much stock to Bradshaw’s comments. They signed Rodgers to that one-year contract, which the 41-year-old signal caller has stated will be his final year in the NFL.

With training camp now underway, Rodgers was asked about Bradshaw’s comments. He offered his response.

While doing an interview with NFL Network’s Kyle Brandt, Rodgers sent a very clear message to Bradshaw. To say that he took the high road would be an understatement.

“I whisper to the gods every single day,” Rodgers said. “I’ve known Terry for a long time, being a part of Fox. Terry’s a legend. He’s an absolute legend. He won four Super Bowls. He’s had a legendary career in the media. But Terry, like a lot of people, doesn’t know me. And so he’s got an idea of what he thinks about me based on what I’ve done, the documentary, what I’ve said, darkness retreat, whatever the hell you want to talk about. I’d love to get to know Terry on a deeper level. I feel like if he gave me a chance to get to know him, then we’d have a good friendship.”

Throughout his career, Rodgers has had a lot of negative comments thrown his way. Many of those comments have come from people who simply do not know him.

He has been called a bad teammate by the media. However, the teammates he has actually shared a locker room with have had much different things to say about him.

All of that being said, the 2025 NFL season is coming up quickly. Rodgers will be the starting quarterback in Pittsburgh. Bradshaw will have to choose whether or not to get to know the Steelers’ new lead man, but the hand from Rodgers has been reached out.
