After a rough stretch that saw the underperforming Sparks at just 6-14 on the season, they’ve turned a corner and have won three games in a row. Their last win was a 93-86 victory on the road over the Washington Mystics, with Dearica Hamby putting up a monster performance, with 24 points, 14 rebounds (six offensive), three assists, and two steals. Rickea Jackson added 22 for the Sparks, who shot 51.5% from the field as a team.
This will be the first game of the second half of the WNBA season for the Sun, who have struggled in every major category in what has been one of the toughest seasons in their existence. Veteran Tina Charles leads the team in scoring, averaging 15.6 points per game, with Marina Mabrey adding 15.2 and four assists.
In their first matchup of the season, the Sparks pulled out a 92-88 win. They will play once more, on August 7th, in Los Angeles.
