EXCLUSIVE: Sony Pictures and 3000 Pictures joined forces to acquire Open House, a spec comedy written by Ricky Stanicky scribe Jeff Bushell. Pic will be produced by Russell Hollander and Bushell.
A high school senior is desperate to lose his virginity and help his struggling realtor mom. He strikes a deal with the most popular guy in school, lending access to mom’s empty luxury house listings for parties, in exchange for a social status upgrade. What could go wrong?
It’s in early development, with Aislinn Dunster overseeing after bringing in the spec to 3000 Pictures, and Aisling Lynch co-producing.
The Bushell-scripted Ricky Stanicky was directed by Peter Farrelly and starred John Cena and Zac Efron, for Amazon Prime. He previously wrote Beverly Hills Chihuahua for Disney and has had a long-running career in television, where he served as showrunner on multiple series. Bushell began his career on The Bernie Mac Show, for which he won a Peabody Award.
Hollander is a manager and producer who will produce Open House under his North of Moorpark banner. He most recently produced the darkly comedic modern noir Adulthood, directed by Alex Winter and starring Josh Gad, Kaya Scodelario, Anthony Carrigan, and Billie Lourd. That film gets its world premiere at Toronto.
Bushell is represented by Paradigm and Mckuin, Frankel, Whitehead, with the attorneys also repping Hollander.
