Sharon Osbourne has spoken out about her husband Ozzy Osbourne’s death in a comment posted to Instagram. The iconic Black Sabbath singer died on Tuesday at the age of 76.

The Context

The couple met in 1970 when Sharon’s father, Don Arden, was managing Black Sabbath. They got married in 1982 following Ozzy’s divorce from his first wife, Thelma Riley.

The “Crazy Train” singer had three children with Sharon: Aimee, Kelly and Jack. He also had three children with Riley: Jessica, Louis and Riley’s son Elliot, whom he adopted.

What To Know

On Tuesday, Jack Saunders, a British DJ and presenter for BBC Radio 1, said he learned of Ozzy Osbourne’s death while presenting live on air.

In a statement shared to Instagram, alongside a clip of the moment, Saunders wrote: “As I was on air tonight, the news broke that we had lost one of the greatest showman the world of metal and music has ever seen. The bands and artists that dare to fly the flag in the name of rock n roll do so because Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath did first. He was a blessing to music. Rest In Peace the Prince Of Darkness.”

Sharon commented on Wednesday: “Jack thank you for your tribute to Ozzy tonight, Bless you.” The comment had 6,612 likes at the time of publication.

The Osbournes star previously announced her husband’s death in a statement posted on social media.

“It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning,” the statement read. “He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time. Sharon, Jack, Kelly, Aimee and Louis.”

Ozzy Osbourne’s death comes just weeks after he performed at the Black Sabbath farewell concert in Birmingham, England, on July 5. It was the first time the original rock band members had reunited in 20 years.

What People Are Saying

Black Sabbath wrote on X and Instagram: “Ozzy Forever!”

Black Sabbath co-founder and guitarist Tony Iommi posted on social media: “I just can’t believe it! My dear dear friend Ozzy has passed away only weeks after our show at Villa Park. It’s just such heartbreaking news that I can’t really find the words, there won’t ever be another like him. Geezer, Bill and myself have lost our brother. My thoughts go out to Sharon and all the Osbourne family. Rest in peace Oz. Tony.”

Black Sabbath co-founder and drummer Bill Ward wrote on social media: “Where will I find you now? In the memories, our unspoken embraces, our missed phone calls, no, you’re forever in my heart. Deepest condolences to Sharon and all family members. RIP Sincere regrets to all the fans. Never goodbye. Thank you forever.”

Black Sabbath co-founder and bassist Geezer Butler posted on social media: “Goodbye dear friend – thanks for all those years – we had some great fun. 4 kids from Aston – who’d have thought, eh? So glad we got to do it one last time, back in Aston. Love you.”

What Happens Next

Days before his death, Ozzy Osbourne announced that Black Sabbath’s final concert would be released in theaters as a film next year, titled Back To The Beginning: Ozzy’s Final Bow.
