Beloved country music singer Brian ‘Nashville’ Duckworth, dead at 56

Beloved country star Brian “Nashville” Neil Duckworth has died. He was 56 years old.

According to an obituary shared by his family members, he died “at his home” in Clarksburg, W. Va on Sept. 7 and will be laid to rest on Sept. 14 at Floral Hills Memorial Garden.

A cause of death was not disclosed.

The Taylor Made Band member — who performed alongside brother Greg Duckworth and sister Wendy Williams– kept his job as a dump truck operator, even as the band performed, his obituary revealed.

“He was the ‘Truck Boss,’” his family wrote, noting that it was “a job he truly enjoyed because it allowed him to spend his days outdoors.

They added, “Whether working or relaxing, Brian was happiest surrounded by nature.”

His music career was “also a special part of his life,” the announcement went on. “He loved to sing and proudly performed with” the band.

The obituary noted that the singer “never passed up an opportunity to share his voice,” which earned him the “affectionate nickname ‘Nashville.’”

The family also noted that he “dearly loved his faithful fur family, who were constant companions and brought him great comfort and happiness.”

He’s survived by wife Tina Scheuvront Duckworth and their six children, as well as four grandchildren. He’s also survived by five brothers and sisters.

“Brian’s love of family, music, and the outdoors will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved him,” the announcement read.

In addition to the online tribute, Brian’s niece Brianna Duckworth Kazner took to social media earlier this week to remember her uncle with an emotional post.

“I grew up watching my dad, Aunt Wendy, and Uncle Brian perform at fairs and festivals until I was finally old enough to join them on a few occasions,” she wrote alongside a clip of the singer belting out tunes at her wedding.

“As I’ve gotten older and started writing my own music, I knew the guy to call whenever I got creatively ‘stuck,’”, she continued, noting that he “had such a way with song lyrics that I knew without a doubt Uncle Brian would pull me out of the songwriter’s slump.”

Kazner looked back on “So many nights singing music…phone calls with random jokes…a guy that wore my Go Duck tshirt proudly as he sang at our ribbon cutting.”

She also wrote that he’d recently called her “about a song idea he had.”

“Guess I should get to work on that,” he wrote. “Uncle ‘Bert,’ I can’t count the number of times we got to sing together but it will have never been enough 💔” she concluded.

Brian rose to prominence in 2012 when Taylor Made — which is known for opening for high-profile country artists including Miranda Lambertand Dierks Bentley — released their single “Things You Don’t Grow Out Of.”

Taylor Made was named Independent Artist of the Year by Nashville’s MusicRow Magazine in 2013.
