Out in Oxnard, California, the Dallas Cowboys are gearing up for training camp. Several NFL free agents are set to participate in a workout with the team ahead of Day 1.

According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, Jesse Luketa, Kameron Cline, and James Houston are expected to be a part of the Cowboys’ pre-camp workout list.

Luketa is a product of Penn State and entered the NFL Draft in 2022. After a four-year run at PSU, Luketa entered the NFL as a seventh-round pick. He started his career with the Arizona Cardinals.

The veteran pass rusher spent the past three seasons playing for the Cardinals. During his rookie season, he appeared in seven games, registering just three tackles.

Over the past two seasons, Luketa appeared in 24 games. He totaled 32 tackles, three sacks, and five hits on the quarterback.

Kameron Cline landed in the NFL in 2020 as an undrafted prospect out of South Dakota. He signed with the Indianapolis Colts after the draft. Over three seasons, Cline appeared in five games for the Colts. He accounted for just three tackles during that stretch.

Back in May 2023, Cline was waived by the Colts. He was claimed by the Buffalo Bills. Cline appeared in just one game for the Bills last year. He didn’t register any statistics.

Lastly, James Houston is an ex-Jackson State player. He had another stretch in college where he played for Florida. During the 2022 NFL Draft, Houston was selected with the 217th overall pick, ending up with the Detroit Lions in the sixth round.

Throughout his first two seasons with the Lions, Houston appeared in nine games. He totaled 12 tackles, seven of which were for a loss. He also had 11 hits on the quarterback and got to the QB for eight total sacks, with all of that sack production coming during his rookie season.

During Houston’s third and final season with the Lions, he appeared in eight games. The young veteran collected eight tackles and one sack. Houston was waived by the Lions in late November of last season. The following day, he was picked up by the Cleveland Browns.

With the Browns, Houston didn’t produce any stats. He appeared in just three games with Cleveland before ultimately hitting the free agency market. Now, he’s hoping for another shot in another situation.

The Cowboys reported to California this weekend. They’ll begin practice on Tuesday, July 22. It’s unclear if any of their pre-camp workout candidates will get an opportunity to join in the action this summer.
