When it comes to Jalen Hurts, the Philadelphia Eagles quarterback has been viewed in many different lights.

Some believe that Hurts is among the best quarterbacks in the game as he holds an impressive resume just a few seasons into his NFL career. Others believe that Hurts could fall under the overrated category, suggesting his success is simply a product of a strong supporting cast.

An ESPN poll, which included votes and opinions from anonymous executives, coaches, and scouts, ranked Hurts as the ninth-best quarterback in the NFL. After the rankings were revealed, ESPN’s NFL Insider Adam Schefter recently spoke some truth on the opinion of Hurts around the league, as he continues to be heavily debated amongst fans and analysts.

“He is viewed as a winner,” Adam Schefter told 97.5 The Fanatic in Philadelphia. “A winner. [He’s viewed] as somebody who has essentially taken them to two Super Bowls in the last few years, and basically played as well, if not better, than Patrick Mahomes in both those games.”

Hurts’ first Super Bowl appearance occurred back in 2022. The Eagles went 14-1 with Hurts under center during the regular season and benefited from 3,701 passing yards and 22 passing touchdowns, along with 760 rushing yards and 13 rushing touchdowns from Hurts.

Although Hurts helped lead the Eagles past the San Francisco 49ers in the 2022 NFC Championship game, the Eagles came up short against the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl. They followed up the Super Bowl loss by losing in the first round of the playoffs in 2023.

Last season, Hurts helped the Eagles achieve a 12-3 record during the regular season. After wins against the Green Bay Packers, Los Angeles Rams, and the Washington Commanders in the playoffs, the Eagles got their shot at revenge against the Chiefs in the Super Bowl. The mission was accomplished.

At 26, Hurts has a Super Bowl ring, Super Bowl MVP honor, second-team All-Pro nod, and two Pro Bowl accolades. Since becoming a starter in 2021, the Eagles haven’t missed the playoffs. The debate of Hurts’ quarterback play probably won’t vanish anytime soon. Even a strong 2025 campaign wouldn’t solve all debates. However, it’s becoming clear that he is one of the most respected players at the position, contrary to popular belief.
