The 2025 college football season is right around the corner, but the recruiting battle is still raging. Sherrone Moore and the Michigan Wolverines are looking to get back to being a national championship contender, which all starts on the recruiting trail.

Moore took over for Jim Harbaugh as Michigan’s full-time head coach last season. He led the program to an 8-5 record. That record also included the huge upset on the road over Ohio State in the final game of the regular season.

With the right moves in the recruiting and transfer portal markets, the Wolverines could be back in the hunt in the very near future.

On Wednesday, some big news came out about Michigan’s 2026 recruiting class.

According to a report from college football insider Hayes Fawcett of Rivals, the Wolverines have flipped 2026 four-star safety Jordan Deck. He had been committed to the Baylor Bears since June 24.

Fawcett also shared a brief message that Deck sent after making his decision to flip his commitment to Michigan.

“Have to do what’s best for me & I believe that’s Michigan,” he said. “Go Blue!”

Deck is currently listed as the No. 25 safety in the 2026 recruiting class by 247 Sports. He is also ranked as the No. 40 overall prospect in the state of Texas.

Just two short years ago, the Wolverines won a national championship. Losing Harbaugh right after winning it all was a tough blow, but Moore is more than capable of leading the program back to glory.

Being able to make these kinds of moves will be key to reaching that goal. Deck has a chance to become a major playmaker for Michigan in the future.

247 Sports currently has the Wolverines’ 2026 recruiting class ranked No. 9 in the nation. With the addition of Deck, they add another elite player who could become a key leader for the defense in years to come.
