Until 2026, Emma Watson might have to opt for public transport. The Harry Potter star has had her driving license revoked for six months, following a speeding incident. The decision was handed down Wednesday by High Wycombe Magistrates’ Court. And that’s not all: the actor also received a hefty fine of £1,044, or about $1,399. Watson was driving 38 miles per hour in a 30 miles per hour zone.

Strangely enough, the woman once known as Hermione Granger was not the only member of the original Harry Potter cast to have trouble with highway codes on Wednesday. Zoë Wanamaker, who played Quidditch teacher Madame Hooch, was convicted in the same court on the same day for a similar offense. The 76-year-old actor was driving at 46 miles her hour when the speed limit was 40 miles her hour.

Wanamaker’s lawyer, Duncan Jones, said that the actor was not asking for any “special treatment” from the court, and fully accepted her penalty. Like Watson, Wanamaker already had nine points on her license before the offense. According to the BBC, Judge Arvind Sharma deducted three points from each of the two women, resulting in an automatic six-month suspension of their licenses.

Apart from this legal mishap, Watson is keeping a low profile. She will not be taking part in the upcoming TV adaptation of the saga produced by HBO; the character she originated will be played by newcomer Arabella Stanton. The project, billed as an ambitious decade-long series, will also see Dominic McLaughlin starring in the role of Harry, and Alastair Stout as Ron.

Original story in VF France.
