Summary

  • Artist Sean Wotherspoon reimagines a vintage Porsche 911 Carrera 2.7 RS in a bold, color-blocked livery
  • Interior features vintage Levi’s denim, flannel, cork and corduroy, hand-stitched by Meyers Manx’s team
  • Inspired by his love for VW Harlequin designs and built with Philip Sarofim and Stuff by Spot

Sean Wotherspoon, via Type 7, has revealed his latest art-meets-automotive project: a Porsche 911 Carrera 2.7 RS, transformed into a rolling canvas of vivid color and nostalgic materials. The artist, best known for his patchwork Air Max 97s and color-blocked Taycan, drew inspiration from his early days admiring Harlequin Golfs and his deep connection to vintage fashion.

Commissioned by collector Philip Sarofim, with creative direction from Jimmy Howson’s Stuff by Spot, the project reimagines the iconic RS with hues inspired by Meyers Manx, including “Old Red” on the hood. The interior is just as ambitious, crafted entirely from vintage Levi’s denim, flannel and corduroy — all dating from the 1960s to the 1990s — and anchored by a cork dashboard leftover from Wotherspoon’s Taycan collaboration. Door cards feature functional Levi’s pockets, while each panel and stitch nods to the car’s history.

“It’s about using as much color as possible in a way that sparks curiosity,” says Wotherspoon, who spent eight months curating the build. The car debuted on the streets of LA, turning heads instantly. “Nature never gets criticized for being colorful,” he adds. “This project was my way of bringing that same beauty to the road.”
