FBI Director Kash Patel said he plans to stay in his position as rumors swirl about other possible resignations amid investigations into the Jeffrey Epstein tapes, he said in a post on X Saturday.

“The conspiracy theories just aren’t true, never have been,” Patel said.

“It’s an honor to serve the President of the United States @realDonaldTrump,” he explained, adding, “and I’ll continue to do so for as long as he calls on me.”

The statement came as media outlets reported said Patel might resign in solidarity Deputy Director Dan Bongino following a disagreement with Attorney General Pam Bondi over the Epstein investigation.

Jeffrey Epstein, the financier and sex offender who died in prison six years ago, socialized with some of the world’s most powerful people. While his death was ruled a suicide, conspiracy theories persist that he was instead killed due to his purported “client list,” which many have speculated to contain the names of politicians including President Donald Trump, former President Bill Clinton and Britain’s Prince Andrew, Newsweek previously reported.

Newsweek reached out to the DOJ by submission form on Friday for comment.

This is a breaking news story. Updates to come.
