The Liga MX Apertura campaign begins on Friday night with a matchup between FC Juarez and Club America, marking the first matchday of the current campaign.

Club America is coming off an excellent 2024-25 Clausura season, finishing second on the Liga MX table with 34 points in 17 matches and a league-leading plus-24 goal differential. FC Juarez, meanwhile, didn’t have as good of a campaign, finishing the season ninth on the table with just 24 points in 17 matches and a minus-five goal differential.
Club America then proceeded to win the league championship for the Clausura season by defeating Cruz Azul 2-1 on aggregate in the final.
That was Club America’s 15th title ever and their second in a row, as the club continued to prove why it is one of the best Liga MX has to offer. Scoring in the second leg to secure the victory and the championship for Club America were Henry Martin and Cristian Borja.
Making the defeat all the more painful for Cruz Azul is the fact that not only did it win the first leg 1-0, it also held a 1-0 lead in the 57th minute before Martin and Borja secured their goals to seal the win for Club America.
