An official cause of death for Marvel and “Nip/Tuck” actor Julian McMahon has been released, according to a cremation approval report obtained by Nexstar.

The report from the Pinellas County Medical Examiner’s Office in Florida, first obtained by People, shows McMahon died of lung metastasis due to head and neck metastatic cancer. His death was deemed natural.

McMahon, whose death was confirmed last week, had privately been dealing with cancer.

“Julian loved life. He loved his family. He loved his friends. He loved his work, and he loved his fans,” Kelly McMahon, the Australian actor’s wife, said in statements obtained by multiple outlets, including Deadline. “His deepest wish was to bring joy into as many lives as possible. We ask for support during this time to allow our family to grieve in privacy. And we wish for all of those to whom Julian brought joy to continue to find joy in life. We are grateful for the memories.”

The 56-year-old died peacefully in his sleep, Kelly added.

Julian McMahon, the son of a former Australian prime minister, first worked as a model before transitioning into acting. He would star in Australian daytime soap operas and films before moving to Hollywood.

Some of his earliest credits in American television include starring in “Another World” and “Charmed,” according to IMDb. Then, in 2005, McMahon landed the role of Victor von Doom in “Fantastic Four.”

He reprised his role as Dr. Doom in 2007 for “Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer” before moving on to other beloved characters: Dr. Christian Troy in “Nip/Tuck” and FBI agent Jess LaCroix in “FBI,” “FBI: International,” and “FBI: Most Wanted.”

McMahon’s most recent role included appearing in six episodes of the Netflix mini-series, “The Residence,” which was released earlier this year.

Actress Alyssa Milano, who appeared with McMahon on “Charmed,” mourned his death on social media, saying, “Julian was more than my TV husband.”

“Julian McMahon was magic,” Milano said. “That smile. That laugh. That talent. That presence. He walked into a room and lit it up — not just with charisma, but with kindness. With mischief. With soulful understanding.”

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
