BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — The family of a Cullman County woman is asking for help to find her.

The family of 21-year-old Amiyah Hannah says she has been missing since last month. According to them, she was last seen near UAB Hospital. Hannah’s family says she checked herself out of UAB Hospital on June 23. Her family is concerned about her safety, and has tried to get help from the police, but have not been able to so far,.

“She is very naive, which is one of the family’s fears, to be honest with you, Scott. We believe if someone offered her a ride home, or she believed or perceived they were going to give her a ride home, she would be in the car in a minute. So, that is one of the family’s fears in the disappearance of her,” said Jamie Casey, Hannah’s aunt.

Casey says they first contacted the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office to try and get help finding Hannah.

“My sister was advised that since this happened in the city of Birmingham, that she would need to file a missing persons report with the Birmingham Police Department,” Casey said.

They were then told that is was UAB Police Department that would need to take the case. Casey says they were able to file a missing persons report, but since then its been silence.

“You expect especially from a public servants office, some type of reaction. It’s almost like this situation has not been taken seriously or she has been disregarded,” she said.

If you see Hannah or might know where she is, her family asks that you call the police.
