The New York Yankees have one of the better rosters in baseball, but they still have a few huge voids to fix before the trade deadline.

The two most obvious holes on the roster sit at third base and in the starting rotation. While the Yankees will likely look to upgrade both, the void at third base could be the easier position to fill if the front office gets aggressive.

Karl Rasmussen of Sports Illustrated recently urged the Yankees to trade for Colorado Rockies infielder Ryan McMahon ahead of the trade deadline.

“Ryan McMahon is another option the Yankees could look into at third base. The Rockies veteran is a great defender and has put up solid numbers at the plate in his career, though he’s certainly benefited from playing at Coors Field,” Rasmussen wrote. “McMahon has an .813 OPS at home in his career versus a .665 on the road. Still, he’s a left-handed hitter who has hit 20 or more home runs in five of the previous six seasons, and he could be a nice addition at the deadline for the Yankees.”

While the Yankees need to find a third baseman to fill the void at the hot corner, a trade for McMahon might not move the needle. He thrives in Colorado while posting concerning numbers in away games.

Still, he has the potential to be a massive upgrade for the Bronx Bombers. While the slugger might not be excellent outside of Coors Field, he’s better than what the Yankees have right now.

If New York can acquire him for cheap, this could be the deal to make.
