Madi Prewett and her husband, Grant Troutt, say their pro-spanking beliefs are rooted in the Bible.

The couple discussed why they plan to “spank” their daughter, Hosanna, as a form of a discipline on Monday’s episode of the “Bachelor” alum’s podcast, “Stay True.”

“We will [spank her], on the record, because the Bible clearly says, ‘Folly is bound up in a child, but discipline drives it far away,’” Troutt, 29, said.

Prewett, 29, added, “It also specifically says discipline with a rod. … Well some people could say, ‘You can discipline them with time outs.’ Hold on, it says with a rod.”

Prewett — who gave birth to Hosanna in January — said any future spanking would be done in “a very loving way.”

“Mommy does not want to discipline you, mommy doesn’t enjoy having to spank you, but there are consequences to disobedience,” she said of what she would tell her daughter. “And that’s what you’re saying is, there are consequences to our sin. There are consequences to disobedience.”

Later in the conversation, Prewett reflected on own experience with corporal punishment growing up.

“Discipline is not pleasant. … When my dad spanked me when I was young, I didn’t enjoy it,” she said with a laugh. “But now I look back, and I’m, like, ‘Praise God, my dad loved me enough to discipline me. Praise God that my dad loved me enough to train me into righteousness.’”

Prewett and Troutt — who’s a speaker and minister to athletes and churches — have been married since October 2022.

They’ve been candid about their relationship and strong religious beliefs on her podcast, specifically when it comes to their struggles.

Troutt also talked about overcoming his past porn addiction on Monday, noting he was on a “shameful roller-coaster cycle” of “looking at pornography” and smoking marijuana.

Last month, Prewett talked about her own past porn and masturbation addictions.

“Thankfully, by the grace of God and by the power of Godly community and people around me, I have been free from porn and masturbation for, I don’t even know, 10 years,” she shared on her podcast. “That was something that enslaved me and marked me for so long.”
