When it comes to NFL ownership, former New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning is no longer interested.

At a point in time, the ex-quarterback considered getting involved in grabbing a stake of his former team. While it would’ve been minor, Manning claims that the deserved, yet high, valuation of the Giants could become too pricey for his liking.

“Basically, it’s too expensive for me,” Manning told CNBC Sport in an interview. “A 1% stake valued at $10 billion turns into a very big number.”

It’s not just the price, though. According to Manning, the conflict of interest between his day job and ownership would be too significant. If he chose ownership, he believes he would have to put his broadcasting job aside.

“I wouldn’t be able to talk to players that I coached in the Pro Bowl. It was going to affect my day job,” Manning added, according to CNBC.

Since the Giants were the only team he was interested in, the former NFL quarterback won’t be looking at any other franchises for the foreseeable future.

And despite the lack of interest in owning the Giants, Manning remains a prominent figure within the organization. He isn’t employed by the team, but he revealed that he’s spoken to them over the course of the past year. Manning also mentioned that he would advise the rookie first-rounder Jaxson Dart if the young quarterback needed guidance.

“I’ve told him, ‘Hey, I’m here to help in any way. I’m a phone call away, a text away, but I’m not getting in the way,” Manning told reporters last month.

One would assume that Dart will reach out at some point, considering Manning has been through the same experience as the former Ole Miss quarterback.

Despite not being the starter at the beginning of his rookie season with the Giants, Manning eventually took over. From that point on, he was a full-time starting quarterback from 2005 until 2018. Manning lost his starting job to Daniel Jones during the 2019 NFL season.

As a two-time Super Bowl champion and four-time Pro Bowler, Manning has plenty of advice to offer to quarterbacks who set foot within the Giants’ organization. Since he remains close to the franchise, he’ll be a valuable asset to a guy like Dart moving forward.
