There’s competition on the red carpet. Last month, Brad Pitt completed a highly successful fashion marathon while promoting his new project, F1. This month, it’s Nicholas Hoult revealing himself as a real model before the eyes of photographers.

The British actor first came to public attention at the age of 17 in the series Skins, alongside other future celebrities such as Dev Patel, Daniel Kaluuya, and Kaya Scodelario. Now in his thirties, he stars in Superman—in cinemas July 11—as the great villain Lex Luthor. After a successful 2024, where he starred in three major films—Juror No. 2, Nosferatu, and The Order—the actor is moving on to something even bigger. And he’s well aware of the stakes, judging by his clothing choices during the Superman promotional tour, where he’s been stealing the show even David Corenswet, who plays Superman himself.

Like Pitt, Nicholas Hoult has relied on signature pieces to find his style. The actor is working with Jason Bolden, a stylist to the stars whose male clients include actors Michael B. Jordan and Aaron Pierre, as well as basketball player Stephen Curry. Together, the duo have created a capsule wardrobe, featuring timeless garments with a touch of modernity added through accessorizing or less classic pieces.

The actor’s fashion marathon began off the red carpet, with a brief (but noteworthy) stopover in New York.

His first look? A brown suit by Tom Ford, with an open jacket and beige cotton T-shirt for a semi-formal look. Hoult then appeared in a white tank top covered by a loose-fitting short-sleeved shirt, again in brown. The paparazzi also photographed him in a white wife-beater lightly covered by a gray sweater tied around his torso, accompanied by Céline jeans.

All three looks have something in common: sunglasses and a huge bag. Specifically, the Prada Buckle bag seen with his last two outfits in the Big Apple. Brad Pitt also accessorized well on his F1 promotional tour, as does Jacob Elordi, a veritable collector of handbags.

Hoult brought the same signature pieces—this time, coupled with Bottega Veneta’s Weekender Getaway bag—during his visit to London. But instead of a white tank top, he wore a Prada outfit, consisting of a brown t-shirt (his new favorite color) with rolled-up sleeves and linen pants, and sunglasses hanging from his belt.

He put his exposed biceps away for Superman’s London premiere on July 3. Instead, he brought a suit out of his closet: one that was striped and signed Bottega Veneta. The following day, he appeared in a casual look with a Burberry leather jacket from the Winter 2025 collection.

But it was his July 7 look in sunny Los Angeles that confirmed Hoult’s status as a stylish man. Black blazer, white shirt, striped tie, glasses (of course) and, above all, black leather pants. We’re not talking about the Saint Laurent leather thigh-high boots worn by Alexander Skarsgard at the Cannes Film Festival 2025, of course—but the actor is certainly making a fashion statement nevertheless.

The extra touch? His newly dyed hair, first unveiled on the set of Jimmy Kimmel Live at the end of June. Nicholas Hoult left his natural brunette for a platinum blond, which suits him perfectly. The actor has reinvented himself with finesse. And far from an extravagant rebranding, it seems instead that the Brit has (finally) found his style.
