Earlier this year, Nike reissued the Air Superfly to mark 25 years since it was introduced. Now, the Swoosh has tapped its longtime collaborator DSM to drop its own take on the sneaker – and with its low profile and sleek silhouette, the Air Superfly is the perfect canvas for DSM, which has reimagined the archival sneaker through its characteristically minimalist lens.
Rooted in running, the Nike x DSM Air Superfly retains the model’s key elements, like its all-over perforations that dot its leather upper. It features suede accents, too, nodding to DSM’s sartorial influence, with other details including a Hut Logo and Swoosh lock-up designed by DSM’s founder Rei Kawakubo on the tongue.
Famous for its in-store installations, Dover Street Market commissioned Zak Group – a design agency focused on contemporary culture – to create bespoke installations for its New York, London, and Los Angeles locations. Mirroring the futuristic, sports-inspired design, DSM says its in-store display presents the Nike Air Superfly “as an artefact of victory, captured at the intersection of performance and fantasy.”
