PHOENIX — A man was arrested after he fired multiple rounds at a motorcyclist and later ran from police on Saturday in Buckeye, authorities said.
John Ramos, 42, was arrested for the incident and faces a list of charges, including attempted second-degree murder, according to the Buckeye Police Department.
What led to the man being arrested?
A Buckeye police officer was waved down by a group of people near Jackrabbit and Indian School roads around 12:30 a.m. on Saturday.
A man in the group told the officer that he was participating in a group motorcycle ride when Ramos started driving erratically and putting others in danger.
The man then asked Ramos to leave the group. That’s when Ramos allegedly pulled out a gun and fired multiple rounds at the man before running into a nearby wash.
No one was injured during the shooting.
The officer immediately moved everyone away from the area and called for more officers.
While police searched the area with dogs, drones and tactical units, Ramos returned to the scene in an SUV, yelling at the victim as well as witnesses. When officers attempted to pull Ramos over, he sped away, driving eastbound on Interstate 10.
Detectives eventually located Ramos’ apartment near 95th Avenue and Camelback Road in Glendale.
Officers arrested Ramos after he was seen walking out of his apartment.
