HARTSELLE, Ala. (WHNT) – A man is facing a capital murder charge after he broke into a Hartselle home with “intent to kill” the woman inside, court documents state.

According to court documents, 59-year-old Nancy Deanne Sandline Fox called 911 on July 3 from her home on Stage Road. She told them that a man was parked outside her home with a gun.

Documents state that Wyatt Braxton Young, 25, fired several rounds at the home before breaking the glass on the front door and unlocking it. He found Fox inside and shot her while she was running to her bedroom.

Fox attempted to hide behind her bed; however, Young found her and shot her in the head. When he realized he was out of ammunition, he hit her repeatedly with the gun. The statement also said that Young kicked Fox with his steel-toed boots.

Young called 911, identifying himself and telling them where he was and that he had killed Fox.

When officers arrived, they said they found Young unarmed in the front yard. HPD said that he was fully cooperative with the officers. Fox was found dead at the scene.

The document said that Young confessed to Sergeant Patrick Edmondson. He was charged with capital murder and is being held at the Morgan County Jail without bail.
