Kelly Clarkson has postponed the holiday weekend opener of her Las Vegas residency, titled Kelly Clarkson: Studio Sessions, at the Colosseum Theater at Caesars Palace hours before the show was scheduled as a safeguard measure against “serious damage” to her vocal cords.
“We have been working 24/7 to make Studio Sessions the most intimate and extraordinary experience with and for my incredible fans,” the powerhouse vocalist began in an Instagram post shared yesterday. “I am beyond grateful that you always show up for me and I am devastated to have to postpone tonight and tomorrow’s opening at Caesars.”
Originally set for 8 p.m. on July 4 and July 5, Clarkson’s website now shows a “Date & Time TBA” descriptor on Ticketmaster. The residency is scheduled to run until Nov. 15.
“The prep and rehearsals have taken a toll on my voice,” the three-time Grammy winner continued. “I want the shows to be perfect for y’all and I need to protect myself from doing serious damage so I am taking this weekend and next week to rest up so that we can deliver what you all deserve. The show is truly incredible. The musicians and singers are outstanding, and I want us all to start out strong.”
She concluded, “I can’t wait to be back next weekend and show y’all what we’ve been working on.”
Aside from her residency, The Kelly Clarkson Show host will soon debut four-episode specials Songs & Stories with Kelly Clarkson, set to arrive on NBC in the late summer, featuring conversations with Gloria Estefan, Jonas Brothers, Lizzo and Teddy Swims.
