Kelly Clarkson postponed her Las Vegas residency opening night shows just 90 minutes before she was set to hit the stage on Friday, leaving several fans very disappointed.
“I genuinely believe artists should have to reimburse fans that travel for their shows and then cancel at the last minute,” one person commented via social media.
“I do not blame her for canceling as I’m sure it was necessary. But there has to be some repercussion. Something for the people that spent thousands to get there. There has to be some kind of insurance.”
Another concertgoer wrote, “I wish you would’ve done this sooner than 15 mins before doors opening. I hope you feel better.”
Clarkson, 43, explained in a post on Instagram Friday that she and her team had been working “24/7” to create the “most intimate and extraordinary experience” for her “incredible fans.”
However, she noted, “The prep and rehearsals have taken a toll on my voice.
“I want the shows to be perfect for y’all and I need to protect myself from doing serious damage so I am taking this weekend and next week to rest up so that we can deliver what you all deserve.”
The “Stronger” singer added, “I am beyond grateful that you always show up for me and I am devastated to have to postpone tonight and tomorrow’s opening at Caesars.”
Clarkson reassured her fans that the show is “incredible” and concluded, “I can’t wait to be back next weekend and show y’all what we’ve been working on.”
Hours before the cancellation, the “American Idol” alum posted photos of her rehearsing onstage wearing a backwards cap, black crop top sweatshirt and leggings.
She captioned the slideshow via Instagram Friday, “TONIGHT!! #OpeningNight #StudioSessions #VegasRehearsals.”
The Grammy winner’s residency, “Kelly Clarkson: Studio Sessions,” has 18 performances scheduled at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace through Nov. 15, according to a press release from earlier this year.
Despite some being upset over Clarkson’s decision to pause opening night, others were supportive.
“When you ACTUALLY sing live, you are allowed this grace. Rest that incredible instrument 
,” one fan commented via Instagram.
Another person pointed out, “when Adele cancelled, we still had an amazing time. Respect for taking care of yourself.”
Clarkson’s controversial concert cancellation comes after rumors that the talk show host is dealing with “very painful” personal issues that may force her to quit “The Kelly Clarkson Show.”
In May, the “Since U Been Gone” singer also lamented how the NBC show has held her back from going on tour, saying, “We haven’t done a show in a while, y’all, ’cause I have a talk show. It’s like a whole other job.”
Page Six previously learned Clarkson plans to end her talk show run in 2026 when her contract expires after Season 7.
