A suspect was arrested in connection with a shooting that left two people hospitalized in Huntington Beach.

On March 16, Huntington Beach police responded to a shooting near Mandrell Drive and Koledo Lane at around 8:50 p.m.

Arriving officers found two men suffering from gunshot wounds. They were transported to local hospitals for treatment and later survived.

The gunman had fled the scene before police arrived.

Investigators later identified the suspected shooter as Sergio Mario Guevara, 38, of Huntington Beach. On July 3, detectives arrested Guevara near Beach Boulevard and Warner Avenue for attempted murder.

A search warrant was also executed at a residence in the 7800 block of Slater Avenue. Previously, another male suspect was arrested for the shooting, but police confirmed he was later released and remains a person of interest.

Although the motive behind the shooting is under investigation, police believe the incident is gang-related.

No further details were released. Anyone with information on the case is asked to call Detective Isai Rodriguez at 714-536-5970.

Anonymous tips can be provided to OC Crime Stoppers at 1-855-847-6227 or online at occrimestoppers.org.
