PHOENIX – A woman has died and another person was hospitalized following a Wednesday morning collision involving a Valley Metro bus and a passenger vehicle in Phoenix, authorities said.
Officers responded to an injury collision at the intersection of 35th Avenue and Thomas Road around 9:45 a.m., according to the Phoenix Police Department.
Upon arrival, police found Emily Analla, 29, who was a passenger of the vehicle, with injuries. She was taken to a hospital and later died due to her injuries.
A woman that was a passenger on the bus was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Xavier Manuel, 23, who was the driver of the vehicle involved in the crash, was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Upon investigation, Manuel showed signs of impairment. After receiving treatment, he was released from the hospital and was arrested. He was booked on manslaughter charges.
Upon investigation, preliminary information suggests the vehicle was driving westbound on Thomas Road when it struck the rear of the bus that was stopped at the bus stop, west of 35th Avenue on Thomas Road.
The investigation remains ongoing.
