An owner’s top-level air conditioning system broke during the heat wave, and despite cool air downstairs, her cats decided to enjoy the sun; however, when she checked on them, their faces screamed differently.
Pet parent Ellie, who is known on TikTok as @e.taylorrrrrr, lives in a three-floor home. She told Newsweek via TikTok that the top-floor air conditioning system broke. It took about a week before she could get it fixed.
In the meantime, her cats could’ve stayed cool on the first two levels of the home to avoid the heat wave that hit several regions of the United States in June. But instead, she found her cats working their way up to the top floor from time to time.
“My cats spent the majority of their time on the floors with AC!” she said. “They would go upstairs and sunbathe for a little and enjoy the heat, I suppose.”
Knowing her cats were upstairs, Ellie went to check on them, but what she found left her cracking up. She quickly snapped a picture of her one feline, Chevy, and shared it in a TikTok video last week with the caption: “He’s alive and well, but the DRAMA.”
In the picture, Chevy looked defeated. Sprawled out and his belly up, Chevy stared up at the ceiling. He appeared to be contemplating his life as his face scrunched up. The heat got to him. And instead of moving back downstairs to the cool air, he stayed there sulking in his regretful decisions.
Luckily, the picture makes it seem like Chevy was in worse condition than he was. Ellie said both cats acted normally the entire heat wave because they had access to AC. Plus, Chevy’s dramatic face is nothing new to her.
“It is not unusual for my cat to have an interesting look on his face, regardless of the weather situation,” she said. “He is just a silly and confused-looking guy.”
Viewer Reactions
With over 1.5 million views, 451,200 likes and 1,513 comments on TikTok as of Wednesday, people couldn’t get over Chevy’s hilarious and relatable reaction to the heatwave.
“Little man is going through it,” wrote one viewer.
Another added: “Just fryinggg omg.”
A third person said: “Better tell them outside is hot lava.”
