The FIFA Club World Cup continues with tonight’s round of 16 matchup between EPL juggernaut Manchester City and Al Hilal.
Al Hilal is one of the biggest underdogs still standing in this competition, but the Saudi Pro League club did show in the group stage that it can hang with top-tier competition.
Al Hilal drew Real Madrid and Red Ball Salzburg in its first two CWC matches, then beat Liga MX side Pachuca 2-0 to emerge from Group H.
Manchester City is coming off a disappointing Premier League campaign in which it finished in third place behind Liverpool and Arsenal. It was dominant in Group G, though, outscoring Wydad AC, Al Ain and Juventus by a combined score of 13-2.
2025 Champions League winner PSG (+250) are the current favorites to win this tournament, but City have the next-shortest odds at +275 (DK) as of June 30.

Manchester City vs. Al Hilal Betting Analysis
Based on the betting odds for this game, anyone unfamiliar with Al Hilal might assume that its roster lacks high-end talent.
That’s hardly the case, though. Former Sevilla keeper Bono, former Wolverhampton midfielder Ruben Neves, former Fulham striker Aleksandar Mitrovic and ex-Man City right back João Cancelo are among a handful of proven vets who now play for the Riyadh-based club in the Saudi Pro League.
Another Al Hilal player to watch is 22-year-old Brazilian forward Marcos Leonardo. He scored 17 goals in the SPL this year and is coming off a strong showing vs. Pachuca in Al Hilal’s group stage finale, with two shots on target and a goal.
City won the EPL in six of the last eight seasons, and they also took home the Champions League trophy in 2023.
Pep Guardiola’s team boasts stars at every position, including Erling Haaland up top. The 24-year-old already has two goals and an assist in this competition despite playing 45 minutes or less in two of City’s three games.
In the other tournament that is taking place in the United States right now — the Gold Cup — sticking with the betting favorites has not paid off. Canada and Panama both went out in the semifinals in shocking losses to Guatemala and Honduras.
The United States also needed PKs in a semifinal match vs. Costa Rica that it was expected to win comfortably, but did survive.
Although the possibility in knockout soccer for upsets (or underdogs to at least force games into extra time or PKs) is always high, I don’t see Al Hilal threatening Man City tonight. So, the question is how to find some value while backing the favorites in a game this lopsided (at least according to oddsmakers).
City, which shut out its first two opponents in the Club World Cup, is a solid bet to keep a clean sheet tonight, and they’re available at plus money to win in a shutout. If there’s one value bet tonight, that would be the one.
Another solid way to cash in if City wins, even if this game ends up being competitive, is Man City half time/full time.
