Everyone seems to be talking about The Bear star Jeremy Allen White. His love life has long been the subject of scrutiny; his upcoming Bruce Springsteen biopic has already stirred up a great deal of discussion. But it was Jimmy Fallon who finally dared to ask White about something many have long wanted to know: the reason why the actor is frequently photographed carrying huge bouquets of flowers.
“Do you work at a florist or what?” the host asked White after showing different photos in which the actor was holding eye-catching floral arrangements. “No,” White responded. “I have this farmers market near my house. It’s on Sundays, and I just love going there. I love flowers in my house.”
White knows that his habit has drawn attention. “It’s become this thing. I saw a friend a couple weeks ago I hadn’t seen in a while. And we were catching up, and she just goes, ‘Can I ask you something?’ And I was like, ‘Yeah, of course, what’s going on?’ She was like, ‘What’s up with the flowers?’ As if there was something sinister going on—that I was doing something, like, strange with the flowers. I just like them! I like them in the house. I like giving them to people. I arrange them with my daughters on Sunday. It’s a nice thing that we do!”
In October, the Springsteen biopic, Deliver Me From Nowhere, will be released. The musician has already given his blessing to the project, telling SiriusXM that White is “such a terrific actor that you just fall right into it.” He added, “He’s got an interpretation of me that I think the fans will deeply recognize. He’s just done a great job. I’ve had a lot of fun being on the set when I can get there.”
No doubt that when the film is released, White will be able to celebrate in style…and with flowers, of course.
