The knockout stage of the 2025 Gold Cup continues on Saturday night, with a huge quarterfinal matchup between Mexico and Saudi Arabia, one that will decide who will advance to the semifinals.

Mexico has gone without loss thus far in the 2025 Gold Cup, though things have been far from perfect for the CONCACAF giants, as Mexico narrowly defeated the Dominican Republic 3-2 in its Gold Cup opener. Mexico then defeated Suriname 2-0 before drawing 0-0 with Costa Rica to close out its Gold Cup group stage.

In the win over Suriname, Mexico was led by Cesar Montes, who scored two goals in the second half to secure the three points for his country. The big defender Montes plays his club soccer for Lokomotiv Moscow in Russia.
