Last season, Jayden Daniels emerged as one of the biggest storylines in football following an impressive rookie campaign with the Washington Commanders. As he gears up for year two, one analyst already feels he belongs in an exclusive group that features some of the top names across all sports.
As the future of the franchise, the Commanders wasted no time giving the former No. 2 picks the reins under center. This decision paid off well for them, as he quickly adapted to the pro game. With his combination of speed and throwing ability, Daniels was able to pick apart opposing defenses in a variety of ways. By the end of the regular season, he’d notched 3,500 passing yards and 25 touchdowns while helping Washington punch their ticket to the postseason.
Daniels’ impressive stretch didn’t end there, as he was able to showcase his talents under the bright lights of the postseason as well. He led the Commanders to multiple upsets before finally being sent home by the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC Championship game.

After displaying superstar potential as a rookie, the buzz around Daniels has gone through the roof. One person who feels they’ve seen more than enough from him is FS1’s Colin Cowherd. During a recent installment of his daily talk show, he stated that the Commanders QB is one of the few un-tradeable athletes in pro sports. Among the others to get named in this group include Patrick Mahomes, Caitlin Clark, Nikola Jokic, and Shohei Ohtani.
“You’re gonna think this is crazy. I think it’s Jayden Daniels,” Cowherd said. “I think he’s our next superstar in the NFL. I thought last year was the greatest rookie season by far… There is an argument over the next 20 years they’re going to become Kansas City in the NFC. That kid was bizarrely good as a rookie.”

Remarks like this are a testament to the high bar being set for Daniels in 2025. Armed with an upgraded supporting cast and year of experience, many expect him to keep the Commanders in a position to contend in the NFC.
As one of the top young talents at his position now, he is a player that will have a lot of eyes on him heading into the 2025 campaign. For him, the top priority is remaining on his upward trajectory and avoiding a sophomore slump.
