The Golden State Warriors are going to be an interesting team to watch during the upcoming NBA free agency period. It was clear in their second-round playoff loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves that they need to add more talent.

One of the bigger needs for the Warriors appears to be in the front-court. Adding a top-tier center would be a wise decision if the right option is available.

Who could that option be? There are a couple of names to watch, but one in particular has now been connected as a possible target.

Myles Turner is coming off of a run to the NBA Finals with the Indiana Pacers. Unfortunately, Tyrese Haliburton went down with a torn Achilles that will likely force him to miss all of next season.

It has been considered likely that the Pacers would re-sign Turner. However, could the big man consider signing elsewhere with Haliburton now out? Or, could Indiana consider moving on and going a different direction?

That is unknown at this point in time.

Bleacher Report’s Zach Buckley took a look at the top potential destinations for Turner in NBA free agency. He named Golden State as one of those possible suitors.

Buckley first took a look at the fit between the Warriors and Turner.

“Figuring out Turner’s potential fit in Golden State is easy. The Warriors obviously feel a stretch 5 can help maximize their roster, and they’d presumably prefer one without as many defensive deficiencies as Quinten Post,” he wrote. “Turner would be all-caps AWESOME on this team. Coach Steve Kerr might coax even more three-point splashes out of the big fella.”

After looking at the fit, he acknowledged that Golden State working out a deal for Turner would be the more difficult part.

“The challenge would be getting Turner to Golden State, as the Warriors don’t have the flexibility to sign him outright. If he decides he wants to join the Dubs, though, maybe there’s a sign-and-trade agreement to be worked out involving restricted free agent Jonathan Kuminga.”

Turner did not play well in the NBA Finals. He has received a lot of criticism for his lack of production in the biggest games of the year.

During the regular season, however, he was very productive. He played in 72 games, averaging 15.6 points per game to go along with 6.5 rebounds, two blocks, and 1.5 assists, while shooting 48.1 percent from the floor and knocking down 39.6 percent of his three-point attempts.

Joining the Warriors would be a perfect fit for Turner, but he does love the Pacers’ organization. It’s unlikely Golden State will land the 29-year-old center, but it’s a destination worth keeping an eye on.
