A lottery scratcher purchased at a Burbank convenience store ended up being a $1 million prize for one lucky winner.

The Triple Red 777 Scratchers game was purchased in March at Chuck’s Corner Market on San Fernando Boulevard.

Antonio Ruta purchased the life-changing lotto ticket, joining a group of other California Lottery winners to strike gold in a recent lotto game.

In Sonoma County, Andrea Willer purchased a SuperLotto Plus ticket at a 76 Gas Station and won the $30 million jackpot. Willer opted to take the lump sum, which comes to around $14 million before federal taxes.

California Lottery officials say other players won big by doing something few might know they can: enter a second-chance drawing.

“Players of SuperLotto Plus and Fantasy 5 draw games can enter 2nd Chance drawings from the moment they buy their ticket,” the Lottery said. “Scratchers players can enter their non-winning tickets into 2nd Chance drawings using the California Lottery App or online through their personal California Lottery account.”

One recent winner, Donald Breck, Jr., used the second-chance drawing on a losing scratcher ticket and came away with $30,000.

Breck says he actually forgot that he entered the second-chance drawing and hadn’t been checking his email. He learned through his sister, who learned from someone else, that Breck may have been a winner and should check his email.

“I logged into my Lottery account and saw that I was a winner,” Breck said. “I was like, ‘This is pretty exciting.’”

Breck says he plans to use his winnings to pay off some credit cards and do some work around the house.

In addition to the winners, the businesses that sold the winning tickets may also be entitled to some lottery cash.
