Ahead of the 2025 NFL season, the Green Bay Packers have a potential question mark at the cornerback position.

On the outside looking in, the team needs help. Following the decision to part ways with longtime star Jaire Alexander, the secondary looks to be a major concern.

Right now, the Packers have Nate Hobbs, Carrington Valentine, and Keisean Nixon as their top three cornerbacks on the roster. Behind them, they have Kamal Hadden, Javon Bullard, and Micah Robinson.

While there is definitely talent within the cornerback room for Green Bay, none of those names will strike fear in opposing quarterbacks. It’s also likely that the Packers do not have a legitimate No. 1 cornerback on the roster.

That being said, Green Bay has been connected as a possible fit for a few free agent options. One of them was a familiar name.

Rasul Douglas is still a free agent. He had a great tenure with the Packers and many fans would love to see him come back to town. Could that be a legitimate possibility?

When asked about a return to Green Bay on social media, Douglas shot down the idea. He does not see himself returning to play for the Packers.

“Don’t think that will happen buddy,” Douglas wrote bluntly.

Bringing in Douglas would have been a big step in the right direction for Green Bay. He’s a more than capable playmaker and was solid in coverage. Douglas being familiar with the team would have also made for a seamless fit.

Back in 2021, Douglas had a huge year for the Packers. In 12 games played, he racked up 57 tackles, five interceptions, two defensive touchdowns, 13 defended passes, and a forced fumble. Fans are not going to forget his name anytime soon in Green Bay.

At 30 years old, it’s a surprise that Douglas is still a free agent. He will likely find a new home at some point before the 2025 season gets underway.

Even though Douglas may not be an option, there are a couple of other names the Packers could consider. Stephon Gilmore and Asante Samuel Jr. are also still available in free agency.

Brian Gutekunst and the front office may opt to stand pat, but signing another cornerback would be wise. It would be a shame to see the defense fall apart and the team’s Super Bowl chances falter due to a lack of talent in the secondary after passing on talented options.
