Jeremy Allen White, star of the hit Chicago-based show “The Bear,” is playing a rock-and-roll icon in an upcoming music biopic — and the first official trailer just dropped.
White is playing Bruce Springsteen in “Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere,” which will be released in theaters on Oct. 24, according to Variety. The film is based on the book of the same name by Warren Zanes, which chronicles the making of “Nebraska,” Springsteen’s 1982 record that stands as one of the most unique and personal works of his legendary career.

Variety reports the film is directed by Scott Cooper, who also directed “Crazy Heart,” the 2009 music drama that propelled Jeff Bridges to a best actor Oscar.
In addition to starring White as Springsteen, Variety says, “Deliver Me From Nowhere” features Jeremy Strong of “Succession” fame as Jon Landau, Springsteen’s manager; Marc Maron as producer Chuck Plotkin; Odessa Young as Faye, Springsteen’s love interest; and others.
Based on recent history, starring in a biopic about a music legend could mean big things for White’s career.
Timothée Chalamet just received an Oscar nomination for best actor for portraying Bob Dylan in last year’s “A Complete Unknown, and Rami Malek won the best actor Oscar for playing Freddie Mercury in 2018’s “Bohemian Rhapsody.”
