COLBERT COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) — A new building has officially been opened for the Colbert County Emergency Management Agency.
The new Colbert County Emergency Management and 911 building is located on the TVA reservation at 91 Harcourt Morgan Way, Muscle Shoals.
The 911 communications center started operating on May 7 at 6 a.m. According to officials, the transition of 911 calls was executed seamlessly.
EMA officials said that the new building enhances their capabilities by providing a larger and more user friendly environment for both agencies.
The 911 Center is equipped with state-of the art technology, including new radios which will help improve service for callers and responders.
Additionally, the new training room allows for officials to host a variety of classes and meetings, facilitate the ongoing education of dispatchers, responders, and citizens of Colbert County.
“Having served with Colbert 911 for over 20 years, including 12 years as a dispatcher, I can confidently say that this new facility is a long-awaited dream come true. I take great pride in being part of this important transition,” said Shelly Ezekiel, Assistant Director of Colbert County 911.
