Digital analysis and app data company Sensor Tower announced today that it has acquired Playliner, a mobile games Live Ops data provider, for an undisclosed sum. According to Sensor Tower, this will expand its analytical capabilities within the mobile gaming space, as Playliner can provide details on how such games maintain audiences and evolve over time. This is Sensor Tower’s second such acquisition, the first being Video Game Insights earlier this year.

Playliner tracks and analyzes Live Operations for mobile games, which are the updates the game makes over time. It offers insights on topics such as player engagement and monetization. Companies such as Applovin, Playtika, and Playrix have used Playliner’s insights to inform their long-term strategies. According to Sensor Tower’s acquisition report, Live Ops within evergreen games comprises over 50% of consumer spend on in-app purchases.

Anthony Bartolacci, Sensor Tower’s Chief Strategy Officer, told GamesBeat in an interview, “At Sensor Tower, our mission is to measure the world’s digital economy. For our gaming customers, this includes a comprehensive look at the gaming ecosystem with the ability to dive deep into the individual components that drive lasting success. Earlier this year, we expanded our mobile gaming insights to include PC and Console with our acquisition of Video Game Insights. Now, we’re deepening our mobile insights with the addition of Playliner’s data around live analytics. In addition to our best-in-class mobile insights, gaming leaders now have access to game data on what live operations and product implementation initiatives impact consumer engagement and long term growth.”

Kirill Razumovskiy, Playliner CEO, said in a statement, “We’re thrilled to join Sensor Tower and bring Live Ops insights into the industry’s leading platform for gaming intelligence. Together, we can unlock unique insights into what makes mobile games succeed—and help our customers act on them.”
