The Indiana Pacers are on the brink of elimination. Game 6 is on Thursday, but there is a chance they could be without their star guard, Tyrese Haliburton.

According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, the belief is that Haliburton has suffered a strained right calf. He’s expected to undergo an MRI to determine the extent of the injury and how much time, if any, he might miss.

Charania shared the news via X.

Haliburton played through a severe calf injury on Monday during Game 5. While that was the case, he played arguably his worst game of the season.

“Once the Pacers and Haliburton get the results back on this MRI, on that calf strain, they’re going to be able to identify the severity and then huddle and map out exactly what the plan will be going into Game 6.”@malika_andrews and @ShamsCharania discuss Tyrese Haliburton’s… pic.twitter.com/XANI9ehLog

“Once the Pacers and Haliburton get the results back on this MRI, on that calf strain, they’re going to be able to identify the severity and then huddle and map out exactly what the plan will be going into Game 6,” said Charania.

Game 5 for the Pacers and their star guard did not go as planned.

In the game, Haliburton made some unfortunate history, becoming the first player in NBA Finals history to finish with zero made field goals, zero steals, zero blocks, at least three turnovers, and at least three fouls while playing more than 30 minutes. By a number of metrics, it stands as one of the most disappointing individual performances the Finals has ever seen.

With Game 5 in the books, the focus now shifts to Game 6; however, the Pacers could play in their final game of the season without their All-NBA guard. The Pacers will be in front of their ruckus and devoted crowd, but this game will look a lot different if Haliburton can’t give it a go.

Halibruiton insisted on playing through the injury in Game 5, despite dealing with a sore right calf. He went to the locker room early in the game before returning in the second quarter with his calf wrapped.

“It’s the Finals,” Haliburton said after Game 5. “I’ve worked my whole life to be here and I want to be out there to compete, help my teammates any way I can.

“I was not great tonight by any means, but it’s not really a thought of mine to not play here. If I can walk, then I want to play.”

The 25-year-old is posting sub-par numbers in the Finals, averaging 15.0 points per game, 6.2 rebounds, 7.2 assists and 1.2 steals while shooting 45.3 percent from the field and 29.4 percent from three in 35.8 minutes of action.
